About Zeph

Zeph is a voice-first physical interface for working with AI. It is a small device that sits on your desk: press it to talk, and your words are dictated into any app or sent to the AI agents you already use, with no hotkey to fight and no laptop mic across the room. A small display lets you glance at replies from your agents, read notes and even see your AI rate limits.

It runs on ZephOS, which you can download, and supports Bluetooth, local-first processing and small WASM apps. You can bring your own model and API key, or use a cloud model. Its makers pitched it on Hacker News as a roughly $25 do-it-yourself alternative to $159 AI voice recorders.

Good fit if you: dictate a lot, run coding or research agents all day, or want a physical push-to-talk button for AI.
Less ideal if you: want a pure software dictation app with nothing to set up.
