Fathom

Fathom is an AI meeting assistant that joins your calls, records and transcribes them, then produces summaries and action items automatically — so you can stop typing notes and actually participate in the conversation.

It connects to Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, joining scheduled calls automatically. During the meeting you can tap to highlight key moments; afterwards Fathom delivers a structured summary, full searchable transcript, and extracted action items — typically within moments of hanging up. Summaries sync to CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce) and tools like Slack and Notion, which is why sales teams adopt it heavily. It offers a genuinely free plan for individuals, with paid team tiers adding CRM sync, team analytics and advanced summaries.

Strengths: one of the few AI notetakers with a real, generous free tier; fast, accurate summaries; effortless setup; strong CRM integrations for sales workflows. Weaknesses: participants should be informed they're being recorded (consent laws vary by region and this matters legally); AI summaries occasionally miss nuance in messy multi-speaker discussions; and heavy-duty conversation analytics belong to specialist platforms like Gong.

Who it's for: sales teams, consultants, recruiters and anyone in back-to-back meetings who'd rather listen than transcribe — especially those wanting real functionality without a subscription.
