TransMonkey

TransMonkey is an online AI translator for documents, images, videos and text in more than 130 languages. It is built on large language models (the site names ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude) plus OpenAI's Whisper for speech and text-to-speech for voiceovers.

The document translator handles PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files and keeps the original layout, with files of up to 1.5 million characters. The image translator removes the original text and puts the translation back on the same background, in bulk, for images up to 10 MB. The video translator transcribes speech, translates subtitles and can dub the audio with preset voices while leaving the background music untouched. A text translator handles up to 7,000 characters at a time, and there are separate tools for audio transcription and AI subtitles. In total it accepts more than 30 file formats.

TransMonkey also offers extensions for Google Chrome and Google Workspace, and a YouTube add-on for translated subtitles while you watch.

Pricing is credit-based with no subscription required: pay-as-you-go packs start at $6 for 50 credits, up to $99 for 4,000 credits, and there is a free starting allowance.

Machine translation is fast but not perfect. Have a fluent speaker check legal, medical or published material.

Good fit for small businesses translating manuals, slides and product images, creators subtitling videos for new markets, and students reading sources in other languages.
