Dreamlock

Dreamlock is a private dream journal for iPhone. When you wake up you mumble a voice note, half-asleep, and by morning Dreamlock has turned it into a dream card: a clean retelling of the dream, a painting of it, the symbols it found and an interpretation.

The interpretation comes in three parts: what dream traditions say about the symbols, what psychologists tend to notice, and one question to think about. Over time the app builds a personal index of your recurring symbols, and you can ask questions about your own dream history. The site also has free guides on topics such as recurring dreams, nightmares, sleep talking and lucid dreaming.

Privacy is the main design choice. Dreams are recorded and transcribed on the phone, the journal is locked with Face ID, and there is no account or sign-up.

The free tier has unlimited dream capture, three painted dream cards a week and ten questions about your dreams, with no time limit and no credit card. Dreamlock Plus costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year (7-day free trial on the annual plan) and adds unlimited readings and iCloud sync.

Dream interpretation is reflection, not diagnosis. If nightmares or poor sleep affect your health, talk to a doctor.

Good fit for people who already keep a dream journal, lucid-dreaming hobbyists and anyone curious about patterns in their dreams who doesn't want them stored in someone else's cloud.
