Civitai

Civitai is the largest community hub for Stable Diffusion and open-source image generation — a place to discover, download and share the custom models, LoRAs and embeddings that make open-source imaging so much more flexible than closed tools.

Think of it as the app store of the Stable Diffusion world: thousands of community-trained checkpoints and style adapters, each with sample images, version notes and reviews, so you can find precisely the aesthetic you want — from photorealism to anime to product-shot styles. The site also offers on-site generation (no local GPU needed, credit-based), model training tools, and an active community of creators sharing techniques.

Core browsing and downloading are free; on-site generation and training use a credit system.

Strengths: unmatched model selection, real community quality signals (samples and reviews), and the fastest way to give Stable Diffusion a specific style. Weaknesses: quality varies wildly across community models — check samples and licenses per model, since permissions differ; and parts of the site host NSFW content (filters exist, but it's worth knowing before browsing at work).

Who it's for: Stable Diffusion users of every level — beginners finding their first good model, and power users hunting the exact LoRA their project needs.
