About Pic2SVG MCP

Pic2SVG MCP lets an AI agent turn an image file into an editable SVG. It is an MCP server with one tool, trace_image_to_svg, plus a command-line tool and a trace API that both use the same engine. It traces existing artwork such as logos, icons and drawings into vector paths; it does not generate new images from a prompt, and the tracing is deterministic.

To use it, add pic2svg-mcp to the MCP settings of a client that can launch a local stdio server, such as Claude Desktop or a coding agent; it needs Node 20 or newer, and npx downloads it on first use. Then ask the agent to trace a file. You can pick a preset and output path, and the agent gets back the SVG with its path count and file size.

Note that the local process uploads the image to Pic2SVG's hosted server for tracing, so it is not an offline converter. Lettering becomes outlined shapes and transparency becomes a white background shape, so open the result in a vector editor before production use.

No account is needed: by default each client gets 50 free traces per UTC day. Free and Starter output is for personal, non-commercial use; Pro adds commercial use and Advanced adds resale rights, with a seven-day Pro trial on the website. PDF, EPS, AI and DXF exports are only on the website plans; the MCP tool returns SVG.

Good fit for developers and designers who want their AI agent to vectorise logos and icons inside an existing workflow.
