About Lex AI

Lex is a minimalist, distraction-free word processor built specifically for long-form writing, essays, newsletters, and collaborative content creation. Combining Google Docs-style real-time collaboration with underlying LLM architectures (like GPT-4.1 and Claude 4 models), Lex integrates AI directly into the document workflow without cluttering the screen. Writers can activate inline AI drafting, request critique feedback on draft clarity, rephrase weak sentences, and generate title options via simple keyboard shortcuts. The editor includes version history, comment threads, and multi-user editing. Lex allows storytellers and marketers to focus on narrative quality while leveraging flexible model switching.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lex AI and what makes its design different from other AI tools?
Lex AI is a modern, minimalist word processor designed specifically for writers who want AI assistance without a cluttered UI. Unlike standard AI chatbots or heavy marketing platforms, Lex looks and feels like a clean document editor (similar to Google Docs or iA Writer). Generative AI features remain hidden until summoned via simple keyboard commands, allowing authors to focus on deep writing without constant visual distractions.
Which AI models power Lex, and can users switch between them?
Lex provides flexible model switching directly within the editor interface. Users can route text generation and feedback requests through leading foundation models—including GPT-4.1, Claude 4 Sonnet, and Claude 4 Opus. This enables writers to pick the optimal model for specific tasks, such as switching to Claude for nuanced prose editing or GPT for rapid structural outlining.
Does Lex support real-time team collaboration and editing feedback?
Yes, Lex features real-time document collaboration similar to standard cloud editors. Teams can work together on the same document simultaneously, leave comments, track version history, and request AI-driven feedback. The AI critique feature reads drafts to highlight weak arguments, structural gaps, or repetitive phrasing before publishing.
Is Lex free to use, and what are its subscription tiers?
Lex operates on a freemium pricing model. The free tier gives writers access to the core clean document editor, basic AI generation prompts, and collaboration tools. Upgrading to Lex Pro unlocks unlimited access to top-tier models (GPT-4.1, Claude 4 Opus), advanced feedback reports, and unlimited document history.
