Midjourney vs Upscayl

Midjourney is the AI image generator most often credited with the best-looking output in the business. Type a text prompt and it produces four striking, richly detailed images — with a signature aesthetic quality that makes even casual prompts look like professional artwork. It's the go-to for concept art, book covers, brand imagery, posters and social visuals.

Midjourney runs through its own web app (and historically Discord), with tools for upscaling, subtle or strong variations, inpainting (editing regions), outpainting (extending images), style and character references for consistency across images, and personalization that learns your taste. Video generation has also been added to it…

Upscayl is an open-source AI application that enhances image quality by increasing resolution while preserving details. It runs locally on Windows, macOS, and Linux, eliminating the need to upload images to cloud services. The software supports multiple AI upscaling models, batch processing, and privacy-focused workflows. It is widely used by photographers, designers, and digital artists seeking free image enhancement tools. Upscayl is community-driven and actively maintained.
