Midjourney vs Stable Image (Stability AI)

Midjourney is the AI image generator most often credited with the best-looking output in the business. Type a text prompt and it produces four striking, richly detailed images — with a signature aesthetic quality that makes even casual prompts look like professional artwork. It's the go-to for concept art, book covers, brand imagery, posters and social visuals.

Midjourney runs through its own web app (and historically Discord), with tools for upscaling, subtle or strong variations, inpainting (editing regions), outpainting (extending images), style and character references for consistency across images, and personalization that learns your taste. Video generation has also been added to it…

Stable Image is Stability AI's official suite of image generation and editing services for developers and businesses. It provides APIs for text-to-image generation, image editing, background removal, inpainting, outpainting, image upscaling, and style transfer. The platform is built for scalable application development and commercial AI image workflows. Stable Image integrates the latest Stability AI models through a unified API. It is available with free trial credits and paid developer plans.
